Risa Says Ditio Should Be the Industry Standard | Ditio
Risa is one of Norway’s largest private construction contractors, with around 500 employees. One of them is Lars Rune Nygård. For five years, he has led the company’s development and production technology division, bringing 20 years of IT industry experience to the role — experience he has used to identify and recommend the right systems for optimizing work processes.
A forward-leaning company in a backward-leaning industry
Lars Rune describes the construction industry as backward-leaning when it comes to technology and innovation. He is quick to point out that this does not mean the work itself is done poorly, but rather that the industry has been stuck in traditional ways of working for too long, preventing it from fully leveraging what technology can offer. As reporting requirements around environmental impact and sustainability grow increasingly strict, that needs to change. “Although the industry has a long way to go, Ditio represents a huge step in the right direction,” says Lars Rune, who has worked with Ditio for almost four years. “I hope they become the industry standard,” he adds.
Risa focuses on six of the UN’s sustainability goals. With help from Ditio, they have built the right competence and are investing in technology that brings them closer to those targets. Nygård highlights the reporting and mass handling capabilities as particularly valuable on the path toward a greener construction industry. When transporting hazardous materials, it is especially important to document where material is picked up and where it is delivered. “The key is to drive optimally, and Ditio keeps track of how you drive and what you drive. Handling these materials is critical, and the mass handling feature is spot on for that purpose,” Lars Rune explains.

For Risa, the mass transport functionality alone is worth the price of Ditio. The company takes many photos, which Ditio links to position, time, and work process — making it easier to report immediately, both for drivers and site personnel. Ditio simplifies life for truck drivers who work across multiple projects at the same time, capturing trips and mass quantities through real-time tracking. “This was much harder and far less accurate without Ditio. It also supports our sustainability focus — we get an overview of CO2 emissions per ton moved, and we register the type of material being transported,” says Lars Rune.
”Real Goods”
Whether you are talking to Lars Rune or visiting Risa’s website, you quickly encounter the phrase “Real Goods” — or “Ekta vare” in the local dialect. It is a term from Jæren that speaks to identity and integrity, and it is used constantly by Risa’s employees. Everything Risa does must be done properly. At the end of a project, everyone involved should be proud of the work. “On Jæren, we are proud of exactly this. We cannot be the best at everything, but we deliver genuine goods on what we do,” says Lars Rune.
“The main arguments for choosing Ditio are that they truly know the construction industry. Ditio is smart and understands the industry. They are committed to it and specialize in it,” Lars Rune says, arguing that this kind of deep industry focus is the path to loyal customers.

Ditio develops for and with the customers
Ditio is a system that works across multiple links in the chain. “You need a system that works across machines and equipment, one that is brand-independent but supports the industry,” Lars Rune explains. He hopes more construction companies come to understand how good it is for the entire industry that a system like Ditio exists.
It is not just the functionality that impresses Lars Rune. He is full of praise for the people behind Ditio, singling out Jacob Christian Døskeland as “unique and unparalleled, with knowledge that is a joy to listen to.” Lars Rune appreciates how Ditio thinks and values how he is treated as a customer. “I feel heard, and I am grateful that I can help influence the direction of the product,” he says. He also highlights the customer service: “They work quickly and help strengthen the relationship between our two companies.”
